The legendary Whopper but smaller with a slice of melted cheese for added burger bliss. Same great flame-grilled Australian beef, ripe tomato, fresh lettuce, onion, pickles, mayo and tomato sauce on a toasted sesame seed bun.
The Whopper Junior Cheese is $11.15 and 1,650 kJ. It is the Whopper Junior with a slice of melted cheese, and the fifty cent gap between them is the smallest upgrade on the Hungry Jack's menu.
Cheese does proportionally more at this size than it does on a full Whopper. On a big burger a single slice is one layer among many. On a Junior it covers most of the patty, so the melt reaches every bite rather than turning up occasionally. Energy climbs from 1,228 kJ to 1,650 kJ, which is a larger jump in percentage terms than the cheese adds to the full size version.
Sodium moves from 458mg to 624mg and protein from 13.5g to 16.6g. Interestingly the sugars fall from 6.6g to 4.5g, because the sauce quantities differ slightly between the two builds. At 1,650 kJ it is still one of the lighter hot items on the menu.
Everything else is unchanged: flame grilled Australian beef, ripe tomato, fresh lettuce, onion, pickles, mayonnaise and tomato sauce on a toasted bun. The cold salad against the hot patty still works, and the small scale still means it holds together without any pressing.
Who it suits: anyone ordering a Junior who has fifty cents spare, which in practice is most people. It also travels better than the plain version, since the melted cheese holds the salad in place through a drive home. Whopper Junior Cheese calories keep it in light meal territory rather than full meal territory.
Pair it with Small Thick Cut Chips at $2.00, or order two of them instead of one full Whopper and compare what you get.
One Whopper Junior Cheese is 19% of the 8,700 kJ average adult daily intake. Figures are per serve as published by Hungry Jack's.
Data from Hungry Jack's published restaurant information. Updated 13 July 2026.
Same as a home Whopper Junior with one timing change: the cheese goes on while the patty is still on the heat. At this size a slice of cheese covers nearly the whole patty, so it matters more than it does on a full burger. Makes 4 servings.
Two per person with a small side of chips makes a proper meal without going near a full size burger.

$11.15, which is about fifty cents above the plain Whopper Junior at $10.65. It is the smallest upgrade step on the menu.
1,650 kJ, against 1,228 kJ for the plain version. Protein is 16.6g and sodium is 624mg.
Proportionally the cheese does more here than on a full Whopper, because one slice covers most of a small patty. It also holds the salad in place, which helps if you are taking it home.
No. It runs 1,650 kJ against 1,347 kJ for a Cheeseburger, and it carries salad the Cheeseburger does not.
Two Juniors with cheese cost more than one full Whopper and give you two buns rather than one. On energy they land close. On value the single full size wins.
