The Strawberry Sundae at Hungry Jack's is $6.05 and 2,097 kJ, the lightest of the three sundaes on the menu.
Strawberry sauce carries less energy than chocolate or caramel because it is fruit based rather than dairy and cocoa based. That difference of roughly 190 kJ against the Caramel Sundae at 2,285 kJ is small but real, and it comes at the same $6.05.
What strawberry does that the other two do not is bring acid. Chocolate and caramel are both sweet against sweet soft serve; strawberry sauce carries enough tartness to cut through the dairy, which makes it the sundae that stays interesting to the bottom of the cup.
Strawberry and vanilla is also the oldest ice cream pairing there is, and it works for the same reason it always did.
Who it suits: children, anyone who finds chocolate desserts heavy, and anyone who wants the lightest sundae. It is also the most refreshing of the three after a large meal.
