About the Hungry Jack's Dilmah Tea

Dilmah Tea at Jack's Cafe is $3.95 and 8 kJ. Eight kilojoules, and it is the cheapest hot drink on the Hungry Jack's menu by a clear margin.

Dilmah is a Sri Lankan company and one of the few tea brands that grows, picks and packs in the country of origin rather than buying at auction and blending elsewhere. That is a real distinction in the tea trade and it is why the brand has the standing it does in Australia.

At $3.95 it undercuts every coffee on the cafe menu by well over a dollar, and at 8 kJ it costs essentially nothing on the nutrition panel unless you add milk and sugar.

Tea also holds better than coffee for a drive. Coffee starts declining the moment it is made; a tea bag left in a cup keeps brewing and gets stronger rather than worse, which suits a takeaway cup.
