Try our delicious rich chocolate milk shake - made from Australian milk and infused with a deliciously rich chocolate syrup. Available in Small, Medium or Large.
The Chocolate Shake at Hungry Jack's is $5.80 and 1,200 kJ. It is the most ordered of the four standard shakes and the middle of the range on sugar at 44.9g.
What surprises people is how the numbers compare with soft drink. A Chocolate Shake at 1,200 kJ carries roughly twice a Coke at 612 kJ, but only 44.9g of sugar against 36.1g. The extra energy is dairy fat and protein rather than sugar, which makes it a more substantial drink rather than simply a sweeter one.
That also makes it the drink that handles chilli best on the whole menu. Capsaicin dissolves in fat, not water, so dairy genuinely works on a burning mouth where a soft drink genuinely does not. If you are ordering the peri peri tenders or the Angry Whopper, this is the sensible drink.
Carbs are 48.5g. As a shake rather than a thickshake it pours rather than needing to be worked up a straw, which is the Australian distinction between the two.
Who it suits: anyone treating the drink as part of the dessert, and anyone eating something spicy. It also works as a small dessert on its own after a lighter meal.
Compare against the Vanilla Shake at 1,064 kJ, the lightest of the four, or the Biscoff Shake at $6.40.
One Chocolate Shake is 14% of the 8,700 kJ average adult daily intake. Figures are per serve as published by Hungry Jack's.

A proper shake is ice cream and milk in the right ratio, blended briefly. Too long and it melts into flavoured milk. Makes 2 servings.
Serve immediately in a chilled glass. A shake in a warm glass loses its texture within two minutes.

$5.80, the same as the Vanilla, Strawberry and Caramel shakes. The Biscoff Shake is $6.40.
1,200 kJ, with 48.5g of carbs and 44.9g of sugar. That is roughly twice a Coke on energy but only slightly more sugar.
Higher on energy but the extra is dairy fat and protein rather than sugar. Sugar is 44.9g against 36.1g in a Coke, and a shake is considerably more filling.
A shake, by a distance. Capsaicin dissolves in fat rather than water, so dairy works on a burning mouth where soft drink does not.
The Vanilla Shake at 1,064 kJ, then Strawberry at 1,141 kJ. The Shake inspired by Skittles at 2,529 kJ is by far the heaviest.
