Mornings just got bigger with the Big BBQ Brekky Wrap. A crispy hashbrown teamed up with a flame-grilled sausage patty, a freshly cracked cage-free egg, premium eye bacon and cheese. All on a warm toasted tortilla wrap.
The Big BBQ Brekky Wrap is $10.95 and 2,602 kJ. It adds a crispy hash brown to the standard BBQ Brekky Wrap build of flame grilled sausage, egg, cheese and smoky BBQ sauce in a warm tortilla.
Putting the hash brown inside the wrap rather than beside it is the interesting decision. A hash brown on the side goes soft within five minutes. Inside a wrap it is protected from the air, and the crisp edges survive because the surrounding heat is not steam but a warm tortilla. It is the only element in the whole breakfast menu with any crunch to it.
The numbers move less than the price does. Energy goes from 2,469 kJ to 2,602 kJ, which is a modest step, but carbs jump from 35.8g to 48.1g and protein actually falls from 37.2g to 28.4g. A hash brown is potato, so it adds bulk and starch rather than protein.
That protein drop is worth knowing if the reason you order a brekky wrap is the protein figure. The standard version is the better nutritional buy; the Big is the better eating experience if texture matters more to you than the panel.
Sodium is 1,076mg, barely above the standard version. Fat is 35.1g.
Who it suits: anyone who was going to order a hash brown anyway. Buying the Big rather than a wrap plus a separate Hash Brown at $3.00 works out cheaper and eats better.
Pair it with a Jack's Cafe coffee, or go up to the Mega BBQ Brekky Wrap at $13.30 for the doubled version.
